OUR STORY
I started in the schutzhund world in 2018, having freshly turned 19, with my very first well-bred working line German Shepherd puppy, whose name was Ruger. I had this puppy for approximately three and a half months, and in that time we did so much together, and we learned a lot about the Schutzhund world. Unfortunately he passed away at just shy of 6 months old, after a week long stay in the ICU, after ingesting an unknown toxin. I was completely devastated. His breeder wound up gifting me a puppy from her E litter, who coincidentally had the same father as my previous puppy, Ruger; I decided his registered name would be Engel, which is German for Angel, in memory of his brother. This is how our kennel name Vom EngelHaus was created, which stands for “house of angels”, in memory of Ruger, and is also a way to honor Marek, as he’s my heart and soul and the possibility of this kennel wouldn’t be real if he wasn’t here.
Austen and I started dating in September of 2019! When I first moved in he had absolutely no clue about the dog world and what it entails. He very quickly got involved with helper/decoy work, after he started coming with me to every club training session with my two GSDs, Marek and Fallon, and fell in love with it. He did a lot of Fallon’s early foundation work in tracking, and obedience. A situation arose in July of 2021 that had Fallon’s littermate, Bode, looking for a place to call home. He came home with us to prep for a BH, and Austen got the chance to handle an adult sport dog for the first time. He immediately fell in love with the dog, and after getting a BH a few months later, Austen decided that Bode had found his forever home here with us and our pack. They just earned their IGP1 and are working towards the 2 and the 3!
We currently live on our small farm in Eaton Rapids, with our six dogs, Sprocket a bully breed mix, Sunny a golden retriever, and Fallon, Winnie, Bode, and Marek, our German Shepherds! Austen works as a mechanic, and I am a professional photographer! We spend most of our time with our dogs, training in IGP, kayaking, working on our farm house, hiking, and spending time outside! We look forward to talking with you!
